From the desk of Jean-Pierre Leroux, executive chef, creative mind, and restauranteur
Like a bad roller coaster ride, 2020 was a physical, emotional, and financial ride. A trying year indeed.
As a human being, chef, and businessperson it is with a heavy heart that I must admit defeat. Tough trading conditions, unforeseen challenges and, to be honest, my own mistakes were compounded by the COVID pandemic. It proved a hurdle too large.
So it is that I have made the decision to close my beloved restaurant, Salisbury Café and to bid farewell to a Westville institution.
I personally thank: -
my staff who stood by and fought with me to the bitter end,
you, my loyal customers,
my suppliers, and
family, friends, and foe alike, for the special moments we all shared over the last 18 months.
We cannot predict what the future holds, but I am keeping my head up high, inspired by the bespoken energy, love, admiration, laughter, and friendship I have experienced.
It is but a temporary setback, it is now time to set sail in a tear drop, till the captain can recon with Mother Nature and repair the sails.
I will rise again with creative and innovative food concepts and go forward with creative knowledge and determination.
Watch this space… for all that know me, I do not give up, this is just a temporary blimp, a chapter that has ended, whilst we script the next chapters.
