Farewell to Swellendam, Market
Beneath the oaks where mornings bloom,
Where laughter lingers, hearts make room,
I've shared my craft, my baking joy, my days,
In Swellendam’s warm market haze.
To regulars with shining eyes,
Who came through sun and stormy skies,
Your kindness built a world so sweet—
Each visit made my week complete.
To fellow stallholders, tried and true,
I’ve laughed and traded hours with you.
Through beer chats and quiet cheer,
You turned each market into dear.
But now it’s time to pack away,
To close this cherished stall today.
With grateful heart and teary smile,
I linger here a little while.
Dear Swellendam, my mountain nest,
My home through seasons east to west—
For twenty-five rich, rooted years,
You’ve held my dreams and caught my tears.
So here’s goodbye, both soft and strong,
You’ve been my story, soul, and song.
Though I may leave your winding lane,
A part of me will still remain.
