It is easier to hold onto what we see in front of us. Perhaps we do the calculation and reason there is simply not enough for everyone. And the assumption is that if I give,I will be left wanting. Paul reminds us that all we have comes from God,who wants to enrich us "in every way so that [we] can be generous" (2COR. 9:10-11). The math of heaven isn't a calculation of scarcity but of abundance. We can share joyfully because God promises to care for us even as we are generous to others. "Father,You take good care of me. Help me to think of others today and to share Your goodness with them." AMEN! When we believe that God is good,we can learn to open our hands to others. Hallelujah!

Our circumstances may be unfavorable and discouragement may seem like an obstacle. Yet if we press on in our relationship with the Lord,we can flourish like the apostle Paul. Despite the severe hardships and challenges he faced (2COR.23-27),he wouldn't give up. "I...take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me," he wrote. "I press on toward the goal to win the prize" (PHIL.3:14). Paul realized he could do all things through the Lord who strengthened him (4:13),and so can we as we press on with the help of the One who gives us strength. AMEN! God provides the strength we need to persevere and grow. Hallelujah!

CMC quote for the Day: UNEXPECTED GRACE... "In a vision,he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight." Acts 9:12. Saul was actively punishing and harassing Christians (ACTS 9:1-2), when he came face to face with Jesus on the road to Damascus (VV.3-4). Jesus confronted the soon-to-be-called apostle Paul with his sinful actions. Blinded by the experience,Saul/Paul would need a Christian- Ananias- to restore his sight to him in an act of courage and grace (V.17). Saul received unexpected grace. Most people know they're messed up. Instead of lectures,they need a hope for redemption. Stern faces or sharp words can block their view of that hope. Like Ananias,followers of Jesus must become the face of grace in these life-changing encounters with others. AMEN! A Christian's grace-filled actions can smooth someone's path to the Savior's presence. Hallelujah!
