Welcome once again to Clay Oven in Northriding Square on Bellairs and Blandford corner, Northriding. But his style, ethos, and spirit lives on! Andrew has joined Koulla at the head of the team, making every visit memorable. We have restarted our Greek Evenings that Joe loved so much. Twice a month for now, so keep a look out for the dates. We have the ever versatile Mella playing a
mean BOUZOUKI, live. And plates to break. Always fun. New additions are: Rodizio Evenings with Flamenco dancers showing us some Salsa moves to get those lockdown cobwebs flushed out. Again with Mella on guitar providing live music. He is also our Sunday Lunch accompaniment with an eclectic and gentle mix of lazy Sunday music to enjoy your lunch and while away the afternoon. Sunday Lunch also has a menu addition - Spit Braai - chicken, rump and pork on the spit, with Koulla's signature beetroot and potato salad, village salad, roast potatoes at a great price of R145. Unbeatable for 450g of meat. Joe's menu stays ever popular. So come and remember his legacy dishes - from his Steak Portuguesa to his Joe Burger and those Fat Chips, Onion Rings, Tempura Veg, and his signature Prego Sauce. Not forgetting our Vegetarian options - Halloumi Saganaki (entirely uniquely JOE!!) and Haloumi Ravioli. I could go on with our entire menu, which is all AUTHENTIC Joe. Remember that we have ample capacity for your business lunches and special events tailored to suit your requirements. We're here. Making every meal Better. Tastier.
2013 / 2014
Welcome to Clay Oven. Joe, Koulla and the team work hard to get the restaurant going and noticed and successful. As Gregory – a cute little boy – said about us the first time he visited: “IT FEELS LIKE HOME, BUT THEY MADE IT A RESTAURANT”. That’s us in 10 words! Our team of cooks and waiters is steadily melding together into a strong machine that offers friendly and efficient service. We each know our strengths and work to those. Koulla is able to help you choose something great off the menu, Alfredo and Alfios, Clement and Elvis are the ones who get the waiter thing right. Oh, and for now, Koulla is the dessert menu – you have to ask to see her for what’s sweet after your meal. Clay Oven is not about mincy-fancy-pants nouvelle/nouveau/haute cuisine. We are about real food. That’s what we are about: first and second generation Portuguese and Greek Cypriot immigrants making the food they know and grew up with. Of course there are burgers on the menu (everybody has burgers) and lasagna (we don’t pretend to be Italian; our lasagna is made with Greek Kefalotyri – a hard goat’s cheese or a really good, dried halloumi and oregano). Our customers love our lasagna!
