UPDATE 1: Alternative route from Albertinia to Mossel Bay due to an accident near the turn-off to Vleesbaai is to travel from
Albertinia, via Kleinberg ➡️ grain silo ➡️ turn right ➡️ crossing turn right ➡️ turn to Herbertstdale (R327) - only light vehicles (no trucks)

𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓: The N2 is closed for all traffic in the vicinity of the Vleesbaai Turn-off due to an overturned truck blocking all 4 lanes. All services are on scene. Proceed with caution. 𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐊𝐔𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 - Die N2 is tans vir alle verkeer gesluit in die omgewing van die Vleesbaai-afdraai na 'n vragmotor-ongeluk wat al vier bane versper. Alle nooddienste is op die toneel. As burgemeester van Mosselbaai deel ek my opregte gelukwense met ons plaaslike brandbestryders — en veral met ons uitstaande vrouespan:

Hierdie vier uitstaande brandbestryders het GOUD verower tydens die jaarlikse Toughest Firefighter Alive-kompetisie wat van 1 tot 3 Oktober in George plaasgevind het.

Hierdie prestasie getuig van fiksheid, vaardigheid, vasbyt, toewyding en die vermoë om onder geweldige druk te presteer. Dit is presies die eienskappe wat ook tydens werklike noodgevalle vereis word — spanwerk, uithouvermoë, dissipline en probleemoplossing.

Dankie, Nadia, Jayde, Siphokazi en Ziphelele, dat julle Mosselbaai met trots en onderskeiding verteenwoordig het. Julle prestasie is ’n inspirasie vir ons hele gemeenskap en ’n bewys van die professionaliteit en toewyding van ons Brand- en Reddingsdienste.

Ons is werklik trots op julle. Hou aan om die standaard hoog te stel en ons gemeenskap met moed, vasberadenheid en onderskeiding te dien!

On behalf of the Mossel Bay Municipal Council and the people of Mossel Bay, I extend our deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, friends and colleagues of the seafarers involved in the tragic incident involving the Umkhuseli off the Mossel Bay coast.

Kaptein Kapp is 'n bekende en gerespekteerde figuur in die groter Mosselbaai-gebied en het deur die jare groot waardering verdien vir sy professionaliteit, toeganklikheid en diens aan die gemeenskap.

Ons sien uit na voortgesette samewerking met Kapt Kapp, asook tussen SAPD, gemeenskapsveiligheidsstrukture en inwoners om veiliger gemeenskappe vir almal te help bou.
