A little life update from behind the scenes of my kitchen 🤍

I try my best to keep this page about cakes, colour and celebration, but I also believe in being honest with the community that supports my little business.

Over the past two weeks I was admitted to hospital for 10 days with a serious infection that led to sepsis, cellulitis with an abscess, dehydration and some kidney complications. It was unexpected, frightening, and very much not a “break” or holiday. It was simply life happening in a way none of us plan for.

I want to start with a sincere apology to the clients whose orders I had to cancel at very short notice. I know how stressful and disappointing it is to suddenly have to find another cake for an important celebration. I understand the pressure and frustration that may have caused, and it was never my intention to create any inconvenience for you. Cancelling on clients is something I take very seriously and do not do lightly. Thank you to those who showed me grace during a very difficult time. ❤️‍🩹

I share this gently because I am only one person. I am not a big bakery with staff and backup teams — I am a human being, a wife, a mom, and the hands behind every cake that leaves my kitchen. When I get sick, everything pauses. And when confirmed orders are cancelled last-minute, especially after I’ve planned for them, the financial impact on my family is very real. Sometimes it truly means cutting back on basics at home, sometimes it means dinner is toast with 2 minute noodles.
I completely understand that plans change and emergencies happen — that’s life for all of us. I just ask for a little grace and understanding when life happens on my side too. I would never cancel or reschedule lightly, and I always communicate as soon as I can.

I’m going back into work this week with an extra number of orders while still recovering, with an open wound from surgery, because this little business keeps our household going. There's no one to give a sick note to, no one to cover my work while I recuperate.

I appreciate every bit of patience, kindness and support more than I can say.
Thank you to those who have checked in, waited, and shown compassion.

Supporting a small business means supporting a real person and a real family behind it — and that means everything to me.
