Steinhaus Orchestra coming all the way from Germany to perform on Wednesday at 13:00 until 14:00 at Knysna Waterfront
The Steinhaus Orchestra Besigheim is a project orchestra comprising 35 musicians from the Ludwigsburg area. The musicians range in age from 17 to 70 years old. Their repertoire encompasses concert music for wind bands, easy-listening pieces from popular musicians such as James Last or Andre Rieu, and, of course, typical German wind band pieces like polkas or marches. The Steinhaus Orchestra has previously embarked on concert tours to South Africa (2005), Chile (2008), Namibia (2010), Paraguay & Brazil (2012), Mexico (2014), India (2016) and Indonesia (2018). Presently, the musicians are eagerly anticipating performing in the southern region of South Africa. The orchestra is based in Besigheim, a town situated 20 kilometers north of Stuttgart. With a population of 12,000 inhabitants, Besigheim is renowned as the most picturesque wine village in Germany. Mr. Roland Haug serves as the musical director of the orchestra. Born in Ludwigsburg, Roland Haug is not only a conductor for wind orchestras but also a trumpet teacher and the leader of the music school in Besigheim. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in wind music. Through CD productions, concert tours, and large-scale projects involving hundreds of musicians and singers, Roland Haug has gained prominence beyond the Ludwigsburg region. Collaborations with renowned performers such as the Czech tenor Karel Gott and popular German musical singers like Kevin Tarte have further elevated his profile.
