We have been a bit quiet we know, but only because we have some great news to share with you all.

On the 8th of August 2024, Red Chamber Restaurant turned 35 years old! To celebrate this grand achievement in the words of Emma " I am grateful for your continued loyal support and I am grateful for my team of loyal staff. There are many staff members who have been with me for more than 20 years, a few more than 30 years. We are all growing old together."

To mark the occasion we are having not 1, but 2 duck evenings this month! That's right , 2 separate occasions to come and enjoy our delicious duck.

Today I'd like to take the time to highlight our Sweet and Sour Dishes. ✨ Sweet and Sour Pork is a classic Cantonese dish. The Cantonese pronunciation is Gu Lou - "glug" imitating the sound of swallowing saliva triggered by the smell of the dish.

Available in either pork, beef, chicken, or prawn. We find that the chicken version is one of our most popular dishes here at Red Chamber. 👨‍🍳

Most likely because we make our own sweet and sour sauce from scratch in our kitchen, it is fresh and lighter than what you will find in a bottle.

The chicken/pork/prawns are thinly coated. There is no heavy batter, leaving it light and crispy. And our Sweet and Sour Beef does not have any coating.🥢

Sweet and Sour Dishes offer another great option when choosing a variety of flavours to share.
And is a particular favourite for those who do not enjoy spicy food. 🌶❌

With great sadness we must announce that our beloved Da Shi or "Master" as he is known, has passed onto the next life.

Da Shi has been an integral part of the Red Chamber family and experience for the last 28 years.

Emma acquired him in 1996, he was born somewhere between 1994 and 1995. He has lived at Red Chamber Restaurant since then. Its not often that a pet gets to share 28 years with you, even after his tank breaking a few years back, and being left without water for a good few hours. But Da Shi showed that with the right care, some resilience and a good amount of love anything is possible.

We are deeply saddened by his passing, it has been an absolute honour and our privilege to have him by our side, graciously watching over his many thousands of patrons over the years.

Most importantly our thought are with Emma, who has buried him in her garden under a Gardenia so he will always be with her. 🌿

We will miss you Da Shi.

🌕 With New Years this weekend on the 10th of February, we wanted to touch on the year of the Dragon.

If you were born in the year of the Dragon, which includes people born in the years 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012🎈It is very important to wear the colour red. Why, you may ask? When you are in your own horoscope year, one is more vulnerable to the energy - whether good or bad. 🪭

So wearing red is the easiest way to protect yourself. To start the year with luck, we will have red bracelets available for you to collect from our restaurant. 🧧

The special part of these bracelets is that they must be tied on by a loved one as the intention is the most important aspect of protection. They should be applied late on the 9th of February just before the start of the new year. We can't wait to see you all while you join us for a meal over this festive weekend. 🏮

Teapots and teacups. What is the difference? The first image shows a Teapot with its accompanying small teacups. The 2nd image shows 2 individual teacup's that have lids. But why?

Usually, if you are making tea for just yourself, you would use the larger individual cup with its lid. If you have guests or are sharing, you would use the pot with the smaller cups.

Everyone is different, and we all have different preferences so teapots are not always necessary. The most important question to ask is: what is your favourite tea? 😁

It's a new year and after a bit of indulgence, let's start the year off with a dish that is cooked with only a few droplets of oil.

Flash cooked Broccoli or Bokchoi infused with crushed garlic. The oil is used to bring out the flavour of the garlic and the vegetables are then added and cooked until they turn a darker shade of green but are still absolutely crunchy.

Fresh. Simple. Delicious

Happy December to all our Red Chamber Supporters! 🥳

It's the perfect time of the year to come and reflect together around a round table. A round table is a great way for a family or group of friends or even as your companies year end event , to sit together and enjoy a meal.

Usually a round tables footprint is smaller, which makes it much easier to squeeze in that extra someone special.🤗

Red Chamber is the perfect place to beat the heat while eating a fresh Cucumber or Tiger salad or enjoying Stir-Fried Prawn or Chicken with Veg wrapped in a fresh crisp lettuce leaf.

So bring your friends and family and lets have a wonderful December together.

Today we would like to share with you something to keep in mind: Chopsticks come in pairs . Why, they must work together.

A lone chopstick is just a stick and easy to break. But a pair of chopsticks is much stronger and harder to break.

So be like chopsticks and remember working together we can accomplish many great things. Show us what great things you can do with chopsticks in the comments!

Today's yummy dish highlight are our delicious . They come with either a pork, beef or vegetable filling.

The difference between a Potsticker and a steamed Dumpling is that the former are cooked in a pan with a lid instead of a steamer like the latter.

The half fry and half steamed way of cooking, produces a crunchy side which adds to the variety of texture.

Very little oil is used and only one side of the dumpling touches the pan.

They are definitely a favourite, there's always room for just one more!
