Alo Coffee was founded in 2020 by Tamiru Tadesse and his wife, Messi. A former engineer and
university lecturer, Tamiru entered coffee with the aim of demonstrating the quality potential of
his home region while generating value for the farmers producing it. Central to his philosophy is
using quality, that this region is already renowned for, as a driver of value in his coffees. Tamiru
has always believed Ethiopia’s coffees have a wealth of untapped potential, and his work with
Alo is focused on showcasing that potential while driving value back to the communities
producing them.
