Michael Palin, journalist and food enthusiast, used to say we can eat anything we like as long as we cook it ourselves.

This means we source fresh, unprocessed food locally.

Supper tonight: Patat, Lamb curry, sweet carrots. All grown in and around Hopefield.

Patat, carrots, honey, spices, onions, potaotes- all purchased Hopefield Co-Op.

We can make a difference when we make the effort. Research what’s available in your own community, local markets and try growing a few veg in your own home and kitchen.

Hopefield Co-Op announces our second annual KERRIEFEES!

Last year we sold out in 2 hours so this year we have tripled our stalls, closed the road, provided seating and are ready to delight our guests with a local culinary feast! ALL welcome!

We have a great diversity of curries: Crayfish, afhal, snoek head, hot lamb, curry mince, mild chicken, pulled pork, gizzards, chicken livers, chu chu & livers, samoosas, meatballs, kerrie vetkoek, hoender pasta, vegetarian, and rotis of many flavours and sizes. And a few traditional sweet foods eg- Malva Pudding with Homemade Warm Custard. Blueberry and banana muffins. We also have some extras for those who don’t like the burn; eg hot dogs, pancakes.

And we have created a KIDS courtyard! Jumping castle and kids activities and food in a safe protected area behind the Co-Op. Batman will be there!

And while you’re here explore out town- you will be delighted.
