We’re proud to share that our Groot Phesantekraal Syrah 2024 has been named Top 10 and awarded 93 points in the WineMag Prescient Fund Services Shiraz Report 2026.

Adding to the milestone of last year where our Syrah 2023 also placed Top 10 in the 2025 report. A true reflection of consistency in the vineyard and cellar.

Having spent 25 years at Groot Phesantekraal, Joan’s journey from vineyard worker to front woman and head of the farm’s butchery reflects not only personal growth, but the deep sense of community that defines life on the farm. Her story is one of passion, resilience and pride, shaped by the people she works alongside every day.

Set on the outskirts of Durbanville, our legacy stretches back to 1698, but its true strengthlies in its people and shared purpose. From a growing, multi-generational family business to a close-knit team on the ground, it’s a story of dedication, opportunity and progress.

At Groot Phesantekraal, our farm has always been about more than just vineyards. It’s a working farm with livestock, grain fields, and many moving parts that keep the land productive.

This week, the Western Cape Government secured 100 000 vaccines to help combat the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak affecting parts of South Africa.🐄

Today we started vaccinating our livestock at our farm, Blaauwblommetjieskloof in Malmesbury, to help ensure the health of our animals and to do our part in protecting the broader agricultural community.

Farming is about responsibility to the land, the animals, and the industry we are part of.

🚧 Exciting changes at the entrance of Groot Phesantekraal!

Big things are happening at our farm entrance as the City of Cape Town works on widening Klipheuwel and Wellington Roads to improve safety and reduce congestion in the area. As part of the project, our gate will be moved and a traffic light will be installed, making access to and from the farm easier and safer for everyone.

While construction is underway, there may be some temporary inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience during this time. In the end, it will create a smoother and safer experience for all our guests and visitors to the farm.

For March, our Cape Francolin Red Blend 2023 is available at a special price of R630 per six-bottle case. From 1 April, the price increases to R720 per case.
