Booking via a TRAVEL AGENT? Watch out! Researchers asked for the cheapest available prices for return economy class flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to 10 international destinations that were popular with South African travellers.

Of the 10 destinations surveyed, the prices for flights to Amsterdam, on the same dates, were the most alarming, with the quotes ranging from R6 000 up to R14 300 from Cape Town, and from R7 429 up to R12 426 from Johannesburg.

Even more alarming was the fact that six different outlets of one particular traditional travel agency group offered quotes that varied by up to R5 300 on the Cape Town to Amsterdam route.

South Africans are being ripped off by traditional travel agencies who do not provide the best available flight prices for customers, according to research commissioned by Online Travel Agency, Travelstart.

Nice one! New Years Eve at Cafe Chic ... if you just wanna come party there is no charge (feat. Dj Didier)! If you feel like it you can opt for the dinner and entertainement before at R450 p.p, but no pressure;)

Don't feel like being ripped-off R1,100 for a 4 course Dinner at La Colombe? Try Cape Town's long time favourite Savioy Cabbage instead: 5 courses for R 375 or alternatively simply chose from their a la Carte menue!

Here is an venue that deserves respect! Rather than charging their customers R400 just because it's NYE, Jade Bar will not rip-off their people. No cover charge on NYE - just like any other Saturday!

everybody is pi**ed off that venues charge 400 Rand entry for a "normal" night at NYE or give you 3 oysters and a glass of Bubbly and charge 800 ... or set you up for a six course Dinner at Xmas eve and charge 1,200 ... so I thought of launching a FB page "no rip-off Cape Town" where we post venues that don't rip-off their customers just because its New years or restaurants where you can just order a la carte as usual ... If you want to support this idea, then use the "share or recommend" buttom.
