BEHIND THE SCENES AT KITCHEN SOMETHING!

Today I was busy with an order and thought, “Let me quickly make a little reel while I work.”

Needless to say… I gave up! 🤣 Because who is holding a camera in one hand and trying to work with the other? Not me, my people!

But hey, practice makes perfect, and I WILL get the hang of this reel business eventually. One day I'll be baking AND filming like a pro. Today was clearly not that day!

For now, here's a little sneak peek of today's order. And listen, I'm no professional videographer, so please be kind!

Last night, we made a very special delivery, and honestly, it was such a pleasure and an honour!

A few weeks ago, I had the joy of making a birthday cake for Violet Rose’s brother, and last night, I got to deliver a cake for HER very first birthday!

Today, we celebrate this precious little girl turning ONE!

Her birthday cake was a vanilla Bento cake, dressed in pink and featuring the ever-adorable Minnie Mouse. Because, of course, a little princess deserves a little pink magic on her special day!

There’s something so special about being trusted with these little milestones, especially a baby's very first birthday. Thank you for allowing Kitchen Something to be part of such a precious occasion. It truly means so much to me.

Happy 1st Birthday, Violet Rose! May God bless you abundantly throughout your life. May you grow up surrounded by love, joy, laughter and beautiful memories, and may your little world always be filled with happiness.

Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of making and delivering yet another firm customer favourite!

A proper South African classic, warm, sticky, sweet and absolutely delicious. Our Malva pudding went out, got enjoyed, and hopefully left everyone wanting just a little more!

And honestly, who decided that Malva pudding is only for winter? Eish, my people! We don't need cold weather to indulge in a little bit of this goodness. Every season is Malva pudding season!

❤️ SMALL BUSINESSES SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES!

One thing that has always been close to my heart as a small business owner is supporting others, especially women-owned businesses.

I know how rewarding this journey can be, but I also know how hard it gets. There are days, weeks and sometimes months when business is quiet, and you start wondering, “Is this still for me?”

That’s why I believe in sharing, referring and supporting one another wherever we can. There is room for all of us to grow! Today, I want to introduce you to a business I personally support: Faghrieyyah Delights!

Now, the funny part? I've known this woman since PRIMARY SCHOOL! We were in the same class from our very first year, back when it was called Sub A. We went to the same high school and matriculated together. Fast-forward to today, and we're both married, have children and run our own businesses. Who would have thought?

Although I make savouries through Kitchen Something, I don't always have the capacity to take on every order. I've referred customers to her on many occasions and have ordered from her myself for family get-togethers. And guys, she has never disappointed me!

Aunty, thank you for always helping make my little man's birthdays special. He's made it clear that Mommy must order his birthday snacks from YOU!

Come on, everybody! It’s time to celebrate!

On Saturday, we were ALL up in our Ms Rachel feels at Kitchen Something!

We delivered this super colourful Bento cake and cupcakes for little Peyton, who celebrated her 2nd birthday!

Both the cake and cupcakes were vanilla, but can we please take a moment to appreciate these COLOURS?!

One thing I can tell you, and I can’t speak for other bakers, but certain colours just put you in a good mood! And guys, these colours definitely did that for me on Saturday. Sometimes you’re busy baking, and the colours alone have you smiling in the kitchen!

Happy 2nd Birthday, little Peyton! We hope you had the most amazing day, got spoilt absolutely rotten, and made the sweetest memories with your family. May God bless you with so much love, joy and many beautiful years ahead.

A little note to our Kitchen Something Family

Just a quick heads-up, Kitchen Something Family!

As with 2024 and 2025, I won’t be taking any Halloween orders this year.

Now, before anyone raises an eyebrow 👀, yes, I do enjoy watching a good horror movie! But Halloween itself doesn’t quite align with my personal beliefs, so it’s something I choose not to participate in.

I know everyone has their own beliefs and traditions, and that’s absolutely okay. This is simply a personal choice for me, and I hope you understand.

Thank you, as always, for respecting my decision and for continuing to support Kitchen Something. It really does mean so much to me!

In the midst of everything happening around here, I realised I still have a few photos of goodies that went out over the past few weeks!

With one of our matric ball orders, the client also ordered a box of our fancies and I absolutely loved this combination!

Inside the box was a little bit of everything:

White Chocolate Blondies
Chocolate and Creme éclairs
Mini curd cakes (Strawberry curd & Vanilla Custard)
Mini bundt cakes (Chocolate filling)
Strawberry mousse fancy nancies

Such a lovely mix and definitely a little different from your usual fancy box.

And honestly, we LOVE different!

Of course, if you’re looking for those good old-school fancies you grew up with, we’re more than happy to make those, too. Sometimes, you just can’t beat the classics!
