Rory has brewed his way through New Zealand and Scotland, now returning to South Africa. Aegir Project is an authentic, welcoming and high quality brewery. The name is inspired by the legendary Aegir, who is both the Norse God of Brewing and God of the Ocean combining his love of both the sea and Proper Beer.

WE’RE BACK! 🍻

The taps are pouring, the kitchen is firing, and the deck is waiting.

We’re still putting the finishing touches on our renovations, so you might spot a little work happening in the background, but we’re officially open again and couldn’t wait to welcome you back.

Wont be long, the last beer has been transferred, every tank is full, and all the beer is tucked in for a slow, cosy maturation.

That means it’s time for our annual maintenance break.

We’ll be closed from Monday 20 July and reopen on Friday 31 July while we give the brewery its annual scrub, tighten and polish and the occasional persuasive conversation with a particularly stubborn fitting.

This Friday from 5:00 pm! To celebrate our collaboration brew with Capital Craft and Lift Airlines for the Capital Craft Beer Festival, we’re hosting a Paper Airplane Competition!

Take off at 5:00 pm on the taproom runway.
• Grab few sheets of paper (template supplied, but anything design flies) ✈️
• Launch it through our trick gauntlets to win 🍻

I don’t think Aegir needs much of an introduction. Most of you know him all too well.

From the very first day we opened, you became part of the brewery, then the tap room and through all of our growth you been by my side. Always friendly and welcoming, creating smiles and laughs….heck, I still remember hiding behind the counters and holding you up as a puppy pretending to serve customers.

You had a way of being noticed without ever asking to be. Calm. Gentle. Steady. The kind of presence that made people feel comfortable the moment they met you.

And if you spent enough time here, you probably know the look… the one where he’d be sitting beside a table, eyes locked onto someone’s bacon, convinced that if he stared hard enough it might somehow float directly into his mouth but would never dare help himself!

He was more than just a dog.
He was a genuinely good soul.
He was my ultimate friend.

I think a lot of people are going to feel your loss. The space you’ve left behind can never really be filled. But just because your vessel is gone, doesn’t mean you’ve left my side.

I’ll carry you with me forever.
