On this very last day before we close, this means everything to us
"To PLANT
I came to South Africa carrying more than just a suitcase….I carried hope, fear, and prayers. As a young woman from Zimbabwe, I had almost lost hope in my future.
Back home, life is hard for many people. It does not matter whether you are a graduate or not, survival is not easy. I happened to be one of the graduates, with my qualifications but still struggling to find an opportunity.
Then Plant gave me one.
From September 2019 to February 2020, I worked at your restaurant as a waitress. It was only five months, but those five months meant so much to me.
To some people… it may have looked like just a waitress job, but to me, it was everything. It helped me meet my needs, stand on my own, and believe again that better days were possible.
That job became my stepping stone to my dream job. It gave me confidence and reminded me that every small beginning matters.
Every shift, every table I served, every long day….it all meant something. It was not just work, it was a chance to start again.
Now that Plant is closing, I feel sad because places like this are never just businesses. They become part of people’s lives and stories.
I want to say thank you.
Thank you for giving me my first opportunity
in South Africa.
Thank you for helping me when I needed it most.
Thank you for changing lives and feeding families.
I am sure many people, just like me, were blessed because of you.
Some places close their doors, but they never leave people’s hearts.
Plant, you were more than a workplace.
You were the beginning of something bigger for me.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
A grateful young woman from Zimbabwe"
