It has come to our attention that a hacker / scammer is targeting the kitchen and cabinet industry by taking over their social media platforms - mainly Instagram and TikTok. They are then using the platform to advertise high-end kitchens at very low prices. We are aware of several consumers who have already been caught by the scam and who have parted with deposit money to the scammers. Please ensure you verify any 'special' or low offer on cabinetry directly with the company using a non social media platform and details not coming from the page in question.

Do not fall victim to these unscrupulous operators.

Our next tip for when you are planning stone countertops is to make sure your kitchen designer and fabricator are talking to one another about slab optimisation in your design.

“I’m Carol-Ann and I’ve been part of KC Kitchens since 2005. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping clients turn ideas into spaces that genuinely work.

As Project Coordinator, I manage the moving parts – timelines, designs, and installations – making sure everything runs as it should. From the first layout conversations to the final fit, I focus on the details that make a space feel effortless, no matter how complex the project.

It is common for clients to obtain more than one quote before embarking on a kitchen renovation. If you are faced with a wide price disparity between quotes there is normally a very good reason why. Over the next three weeks we are going to be looking at some of the reasons why quotes may vary and how you can ensure you are fairly comparing apples with apples when discerning exactly what each company is offering you for the amount quoted.

Firstly, you need to look at the companies in question and remember that most reputable companies have the added expenses of complying with the law. The fact that they pay their dues to SARS, UIF, the Bargaining Councils and Workman’s compensation will affect the price they charge you. It is important to deal with a company that is complying with the law and looking after its employees. While you might see the advantages of working with a company the is ‘off grid’ we can promise you that the risks far outweigh the price advantages.

Secondly, does the company have a showroom and / or factory - somewhere reputable where you can view their workmanship and how thy present themselves as a business? Reputable companies invest in their businesses by ensuring you can view the quality of workmanship they will provide in your home. They also invest in machinery, computer design software and staff to ensure you get the best design, service and quality they can offer. Yes, it is tempting to take the cheaper quote but be sure your kitchen isn’t being compromised by the lack of investment the company has made in themselves and their staff.
