THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE JOURNEY MEMORABLE. 🏍️❤️
Seven years ago, when I started trading at biker rallies, I became part of an esteemed group of vendors. These were people who had been around for decades, familiar faces who had become part of the biker fraternity. They were more than just traders; they were part of the experience, part of the tradition, and part of what made every rally special.
Today, I look back with a mixture of gratitude and sadness as I realise how many of these iconic characters are no longer with us.
Aunty Clara. Jina and her lekka samosas. Aunty Grace and her red lantern food truck. Real Food Wagon with their legendary portions of chips. Rene, with those memorable items you simply had to buy at a rally. Mr Halal, my friend Mogamat. And then there was James.
James travelled great distances to bring his boots, jackets and biker memorabilia to rally after rally. He was one of those familiar faces who became part of the scenery, someone you simply expected to see whenever the biker community gathered.
Sadly, life has reminded us once again that even the most familiar faces are not here forever. With the passing of James, we lose another member of a special community. Our heartfelt condolences go to Catherine and his family during this difficult time.
Life has a way of teaching us that we often only recognise the true value of people when we look back at the memories they leave behind. We spend so much time preparing for the next rally, the next event and the next opportunity, never quite realising that one day, those ordinary moments will become treasured memories.
We are all just passing through, but the connections we make along the way become part of our legacy.
The stalls may close, the familiar faces may disappear, and the rallies will continue, but the stories, friendships and memories will live on in the hearts of those who shared the journey.
To all those who have left us, thank you for being part of the journey. You helped build a tradition that is bigger than any one of us.
And to my friend James, thank you for the memories, the miles you travelled and the contribution you made to our biker family.
Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed, but you will not be forgotten. ❤️🏍️
