“When visiting Plaisir Estate, you will note a huge amount of symbology strewn about. Like visiting a foreign country and getting a feel for the place by its graffiti and street art.

The Frieze that adorns the modern-day cellar, built in 1993 is a beautiful piece of art, and piece of history, each element representing something of the farm’s past. The blackbirds from one of the guardians’ family crests and in reference to the name, the cherubs alluding to the wine as companions of Bacchus, the lion a symbol of Africa, the horse an essential of rural life back in the day, the bunches of grapes symbolic of abundance, pleasure and enjoyment. Everything means SOMETHING in ode to the foresight and courage that informed Plaisir Estate back then and continues to do so today.”
