23 years ago we made the move as a family to live in Cape Town and start what would become two of Cape Town’s longest standing institutions. Theo’s and Ocean Blue.
Today, it is with a very heavy heart that we announce the closing of our doors forever. Ocean Blue has been a very successful family run business and restaurant in Cape Town for over 23 years. This is thanks to our loyal body of staff that have become family to us, but also to you, our solid support base who we have only ever been too happy to host and create memories with. Nothing will ever replace the buzz of a summer’s evening where people from all corners of the world would come together under our roof to share meals and enjoy the simplest joys of good food, wine and laughter. Nothing will ever replace the sheer beauty of returning to work the next day only to see the smiling faces of our team and our local breakfast customers.
But nothing will replace those quiet winter seasons either. Where our local legends would remind us that there will always be brighter days. The communication with international customers who would return every summer and eat with us every single day. The love has been mutual and not a single moment has been taken for granted. COVID has been an extremely challenging time in everyone’s lives, yet it has been another opportunity for us to be reminded what and who are important. Connection, loyalty, food!! Your love and support will keep us going in spirit. Words don’t really do enough right now.
