Unfortunately, our water will be shut off for several hours Monday morning in Decatur. We’re delaying opening and plan to open at noon once it’s turned back on!

Hey y’all,

Joel, Charles, and Tommy here. Rather than continue to try to respond to individual comments and DMs, we feel the need to post here.

If you’re not caught up, we leased a building in Grant Park, and painted over a mural of Jovita Moore. If you’re wanting to know why, we could give you a few practical reasons, none of which have anything to do with Jovita or her ATL legacy.

The truth is, the reasons aren’t good enough. We made a mistake and acted without enough consideration, and that is not reflective of the kind of people we want to be. For the 7 years that we have had this business, our heart has always been to build community in our city, yet this decision is driving us apart from many in our dear Atlanta community.

To those of you who are saddened, angry, disappointed: We hear you, and we understand. We want to make this right by commissioning another mural. We want to be better, to listen well to our community, and to slow down before making impactful decisions.

Today we soft-opened with our neighbors in Grant Park, and it was so special to meet our new community. Thank you to everyone who came out! Y’all blew us away.

We’ll be open 9am-1pm again tomorrow (Sunday) and then open 7am-4pm M-F and 8am-4pm Sat-Sun!

It made it even more special to receive the award with part of our team at World of Coffee in San Diego. This recognition belongs to every single person at Bellwood, staff and customers alike.
