Far to the north, where Vietnam rises into the borderlands, small coffee farms cling to the steep mountainsides of Sơn La. The light shifts constantly and mountain weather drops quickly at night. The land sets a demanding pace, and the harvest must follow it.
For generations, these scattered family farms worked in isolation. Their remarkable harvests quietly moved down from the peaks without a name, footprint, or sourcing records. This coffee remained largely unknown to the outside world.
Recently, that has begun to change. Through local cooperatives like Bích Thao, knowledge, processing methods, and progress are shared—turning isolated mountain plots into a collective effort. Today, the character of these higher lands is finally receiving the recognition it deserves.
The result is a clean, bright cup alive with crisp citrus, deep stone fruit, and a delicate hint of wild honey. It is an exceptional coffee born from sheer elevation and community resilience at the edge of the map.
