The Interview with the Author.
Good day, this is Andrew Powel, today I have the pleasure to interview the author of this trilogy “Anthony’s Diaries”, Oliviero Migneco.
Q: Hello Oliviero, can you tell us about your early days in your life?
A: I was born in Padova, Italy. A small city not too far from Venice. Padova is the city of Sant’Antonio, that will explain why my full name is Oliviero Maria Antonio. My father left us when I was 2-month-old. He later died in Haiphong, Vietnam. My mother stayed alone and learn how to be a seamstress. When we move to Florence to live in my maternal grandparent’s house, she was lucky to have as a neighbor Marcella and Lietta Cavalli, the mother of Roberto Cavalli, one of the most acclaimed fashion designers. My mother started designing new styles woman dresses for her. In the early year I attend to local schools where I obtain the mechanical engineer diploma. After serving 18 months in the Italian Army, I started following my brother’s footsteps into the hotel business. I worked as a bellboy for a short period then when the opportunity arises to fulfill an assistant front desk manager, I made a deal with hotel’s owner. Since I did not have any experience on that particular job, I told him to try me with no pay for 30 days. If he was happy with me, I would be filling that position. I was hired within 15 days!
Q: I understand you left Italy because you had a job offer you could not refuse. Can you explain?
A: Not exactly. I left Italy for a vacation to visit my girlfriend, that later became my wife. A week before I left for my Californian vacation, I received an offer by a famous Industrial from Tuscany. He offered me to start a Ceramic Tile Import business in Southern California. At the beginning I did not think much about the offer. I was busy to travel around the west coast. Later since I have some free time, I decided to conduct a small marketing research about the ceramic tile import and sale in the Orange County area. Somehow I was forced to stay in Orange and start the business. I remember when I received the phone call from Italy. It was 4:00 am and I was told to stay in Orange, find an attorney to incorporate the company, find a good accountant and start the company. I answered back that my visa would expire soon, my return ticked could not be change and I only had two hundred dollars in my pocket. The answer arrived one week later when I got a cashier check for 5,000 US Dollars for me to live and buy a ticket if I wanted to return. The rest is history, eventually I stayed in the industry for over 32 years.
Q: Did you get married to your sweetheart?
A: Yes, we did get married and adopter three girls, Claudia, Cynthia and Catherine. After 36 years we divorced, and I started to travel. I finally settled down by a beach city in Vietnam where few years later I married a wonderful young woman, Van.
Q: How did you decided to write a book?
A: I never thought to write a book till I had a dream. Like any dreams, they disappear from your memory once you wake up. This time I was fully awaken at 3:00 am and I remember all of the dream I just had. Right away I got up, went on my laptop and started to write a synopsis of the dream. I was able to finish the book in 5 months. I took me 3 more months to correct all my spelling and grammar mistakes. I know there a few more. but English is not my main language.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Next year I will release Anthony’s Diaries (part 1 and part 3). I have also another small story on the make. It is a motivational book “My Life Journey, 30 Days to Survive & 30 Years to Success”.
Q: Can tell us more about the Anthony’s Diary part1 and 3?
A: Part one will be a collection of Anthony’s letters and Diaries from 1999 to 2038. Part 3 will be Anthony’s Diaries after the defeat of the parasite to the last day of his work in 2048 and the collaboration with the Anunnaki.
Q: How about the “My Life Journey”?
A: I can summarize this motivational book in one sentence: Do not ever give up on your dream, stay focus and always go forward. If you make a mistake, just learn from it and always move forward. At the end, your reward will be always greater of your expectation. The book will be a life story of a little girl Hoa that left Vietnam after the fall of Saigon and after 30 days of walking in the jungle reached her first goal Thailand, then from there eventually she arrived in the United States, where after many years of struggle she arrived to own several businesses. She never gave up! Everyone should learn from her. Dream big and stay on course.
Q: I am looking forward to reading all your stories, Thank you Oliviero to be here today.
A: It was a pleasure meeting you and be here with you, Andrew.
