After a long winter of slumber, the ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees in Bac Ha begin to awaken.
In late March and early April, as the first spring rains soak into the earth, the first tender tea buds emerge from their old bark. It's quiet, unhurried. Just a gentle, unique awakening of the vast forest.
🌿 Why is this time called the "golden time" for Shan Tuyet tea?
The youngest tea buds of the year: After a winter of accumulating nutrients, the tea tree concentrates all its essence into these first tender shoots. The spring tea buds are plump, covered in silvery-white downy hairs – the locals call it "snow" on the tea.
Highest concentration of nutrients: The concentration of polyphenols, amino acids, and antioxidants is at its highest level of the year, creating a deep, sweet, and pure aftertaste unlike any other tea.
The purest flavor: Spring tea has a delicate aroma of forest flowers, a mild astringency that dissolves quickly, leaving a long-lasting sweet aftertaste in the throat.
More than just a tea, the first spring buds are a gift from the land and sky of Bac Ha to those who know how to wait and cherish.
