As we celebrate 50 years of Anegada Reef Hotel, we’re looking back at where one of our most loved traditions began.

Lowell knew that Anegada’s fresh lobster deserved to be enjoyed simply — straight from the sea and grilled over a wood fire. He began using old oil drums to make the grills and local “torch wood” for the fire. The lobsters were kept alive in the sea until they were ready to be prepared, giving guests an experience that was as fresh and authentically Anegada as it gets.

That simple tradition became part of the heart of Anegada Reef Hotel. ❤️

Fifty years later, the oil-drum grills are still here, the lobster is still fresh, and that unmistakable smell of lobster cooking over a wood fire is still part of an evening at the Reef. Some things have changed over the years — but thankfully, some things haven’t.

50 years of memories, friendships and island traditions. 🥂🌴🦞

Today, we celebrate 𝟓𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥 — from Lowell and Vivian taking a chance on Anegada in 1976 to Lawrence and Lorraine continuing the family tradition today. ❤️

Through the years, so much has changed, but the things that make Anegada Reef Hotel special have remained: fresh lobster on the grill, beachfront dining, boats in the harbour, familiar faces and guests who return year after year. 🌊🔥

For 50 years, this has been more than a hotel. It has been our 𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞, and so many of you have become part of its story.

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to hear 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 Anegada Reef Hotel memories! 📸💙

⛵ Anegada’s young sailors took to the water! 🌊

Last week, Anegada Reef Hotel was proud to sponsor the Anegada Summer Sailing Camp, welcoming the Royal BVI Yacht Club to Anegada to spend three days introducing and developing sailing skills among our young people.

There’s something special about seeing Anegada’s youth learning right here on the waters they call home. 💙

A big thank you to the Royal BVI Yacht Club for making the trip over, sharing your knowledge and giving our young sailors the opportunity to learn, practice and build their confidence on the water.

We were proud to provide our support and be part of an experience we hope these young sailors will remember for years to come. ⛵☀️

Yesterday, Anegada Reef Hotel was happy to open our doors for Anegada’s Back to School event. 🎒📚💜

There were backpacks, treats, activities and plenty of excitement as our community came together to help our children get ready for another school year.

Thank you to the organizers, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who helped make today possible. We were simply happy to provide the space and be part of a day dedicated to Anegada’s children.

Wishing every student a wonderful, safe and successful school year ahead! ✏️📓✨
