Our fellow food trucker hit the nail on the head with this one!
Lately, my feed has been heavy—with post after post from fellow small business owners announcing closures. And it’s not because they didn’t work hard enough. It’s because the cost of doing business has skyrocketed. Some ingredients have doubled, tripled, even quadrupled in price over the last year. And yet, week after week, many of us keep our prices the same—because we’re scared. Scared of losing customers. Scared of being misunderstood.
When we set our menu prices a year ago, we did it with intention. We calculated fair market value, factored in the cost of goods, and made sure it allowed for a living wage—not luxury, just sustainability. We wanted to build something that could last. Something that could support our families and serve our community with heart.
But here’s the truth: we’re not the only ones feeling this. I hear it daily from other food trucks and restaurants. We’re all navigating the same storm. And while we welcome questions and accountability, sometimes the scrutiny feels… uneven.
So here’s a gentle ask: if you wouldn’t question the price breakdown of a fast food meal, or call corporate after hours about a credit card fee on your receipt, please extend that same grace to your local small businesses. We’re not robots. We’re not getting rich. We’re sweating through long days, pouring love into every detail, and doing our best to keep going.
💰 With the holidays approaching, let’s choose wisely before we spend.
Support the businesses that show up for your kids’ fundraisers, donate to your raffles, and remember your name when you walk up to the window. The ones who stay late to prep, who post your wins, who cheer you on even when they’re barely holding it together themselves.
Let’s be kind. Let’s be intentional. Let’s do better—for each other.
We’re human. And we’re here because we care deeply—about the food, the people, and the community we serve.
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for listening. And thank you for helping us stay standing. ❤️
Love yall, Mean it 🫶
