A large portion of Martinez Lake was formed as a result of the Imperial Dam. Thanks Jennifer ATTN: MLR fans. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Yuma County, La Paz County, and the Lower Colorado River Valley from 9 a.m. Saturday until 11 p.m. Saturday due to critical fire weather conditions.

Forecasters say south to southwest winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour, will combine with extremely low humidity levels between 8 and 9 percent, creating an elevated fire danger across the region.

Officials warn that any fire that starts could spread rapidly under these conditions. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to use caution with anything that could spark a fire.

The warning includes Yuma, Martinez Lake, the Lower Colorado River Valley, and surrounding desert areas in Arizona and California.

Fire down river @ Mittry Lake
A good reason not to play with fireworks at the river! YCSO reported cause of fire was from fireworks. Reminder the Martinez Lake Area has a ban on all fireworks.

Rural Metro Fire responded around 10:20 p.m. Saturday to reports of a brush fire near the Grey Water Pond area at Mittry Lake. Crews arrived to find approximately 100 by 50 feet of brush burning and spreading, prompting an immediate request for assistance from the Bureau of Land Management.

Firefighters deployed hose lines to stop the fire from advancing while additional resources responded. Around 11:30 p.m., Yuma Proving Ground was also requested for mutual aid. BLM crews arrived around midnight and assisted Rural Metro through the early morning hours.

Officials say the fire continues to burn. The cause remains under investigation. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area, and residents with respiratory issues are advised to remain indoors due to smoke and ash in the air.

As the weekend unfortunately comes closer to a close for some of us! That means heading home and taking out the trash. We ask that you please utilize our dumpsters properly. There are 2) 6 yard dumpsters located in the marina and 3) 6 yard dumpsters located in the restaurant parking lot. In addition to a 40 yard overflow dumpster in the corner of restaurant parking lot. That being said , if you come up to a full dumpster please go to the next as we have plenty of dumpster space with our overflow units. If all appear to be completely full and you cannot absolutely find a dumpster with enough room. Please put the overflow trash to the side not in front of the dumpsters as the trash truck can not pick up if they are blocked. As a reminder dumpsters are for household waste only not yard waste or construction waste. We have plenty of space for it, let’s all help do our part to keep our happy place clean.

Our friendly neighbors will be making sure everyone has a fun and safe weekend! Yuma County Sheriff's Office thank you for all you do for our community! Stay safe and happy memorial!

🚨Expect increased patrol presence this weekend at Martinez Lake and along the Colorado River. Deputies will be conducting additional traffic and boating enforcement due to increased holiday activity in the area.
Boat and drive responsibly by following all safety laws, and never operate under the influence. Our goal is for everyone to remain safe on the road and waterways this weekend. 🚤🌊

As a reminder. The Martinez Lake Resort restaurant and Marina parking lots are for vehicles only (ie: trucks/ cars/ golf carts/ side by sides/ etc ). No trailers are permitted unhooked or hooked as the signs posted state. The marina parking spaces are for day use for marina daily/ nightly and monthly dock customers to park while using the marina. In addition please do not park on RV spaces that are “empty” or “appear empty” as the tenants who pay for these spaces cannot utilize them when they show up with their own vehicles. These vehicles pictured need to move immediately to avoid towing. You wouldn’t want to show up at midnight after driving 4 hours and not be able to set up and sleep at your own spot in your happy place. Let’s please have some river respect and enjoy a great, fun, safe and happy holiday weekend in our little piece of paradise. Thank you for your cooperation and happy Memorial!
