AB 32 COST OF IMPLEMENTATION FEE REGULATION
As indicated in the October 2023 communication, the California Air Resources Board (ARB) established an additional fee to cover its administrative costs associated with the implementation of Assembly Bill 32 (AB 32). The ARB uses a Common Carbon Cost per metric ton of carbon dioxide to set what it defines as a Fuel Fee Rate (FFR) per gallon for CARB Gasoline, California Gasoline, and California Diesel sold in the State of California.
The current 2023/2024 FFR per gallon for CARB Gasoline and California Gasoline is $0.005449, and the FFR per gallon for California Diesel is $0.006471. These fees, titled "CA AB32 Fee Gas 1" and "CA AB32 Fee Dsl 1" will continue thru September 30, 2024.
The Fuel supplier has also received ARB's invoice for its 2024/2025 fiscal year. The 2024/2025 FFR per gallon for CARB Gasoline and California Gasoline is $0.004653, and the FFR per gallon for California Diesel is $0.005526. Beginning October 1, 2024, all sales by us will include the corresponding FFR on fuel invoices as additional line items called "CA AB32 Fee Gas 2" for CARB Gasoline and California Gasoline and "CA AB32 Fee Dsl 2" for California Diesel until such time as this fee is fully recovered.
