The Preheated Oven
"And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." — Deuteronomy 31:8
You never put a delicate cake or a heavy roast into a cold oven and then turn on the dial. The environment has to be right before the vessel ever steps inside.
In any bakery or kitchen, the very first thing you do before you crack an egg or measure a cup of flour is walk over to the oven and turn it on. We call it preheating. If you ignore this step and slide a pound cake nto a cold oven, you will completely ruin the product. The cake won't rise and the texture will become heavy, flat, and doughy.
The oven has to reach the exact right temperature before it receives the food. While you are busy on the counter mixing, measuring, and prepping, the oven is working in secret. It is heating, and filling that enclosed space with steady, invisible heat. The food doesn't see the preparation, but its success depends entirely on the fact that the environment was ready before it arrived.
There are times in life where we feel like we are stuck in a holding pattern. You have the vision, you have put together a plan, you’ve put in the work, but the door just isn't opening yet. You find yourself waiting on a business loan, waiting for a contract to close, or waiting for a breakthrough in your ministry or family. It's easy to get frustrated and try to force your way into the next room before the timing is right.
But you have to trust that God is a Master Chef who always preheats the oven. While you are on the counter being formed and prepared, God is already going ahead of you into your tomorrow. He is working on the environment. He is moving people, shifting circumstances, opening hearts, and aligning resources so that when you finally step into your destination, the atmosphere is exactly where it needs to be to sustain you. God will never drop you into a situation that He hasn't already prepared to hold you. Trust the waiting period. He is stabilizing the heat, and when the timing is perfect, He will slide you right into your purpose.
