What is surprising is that The Sole Proprietor has maintained its status among the best seafood restaurants in New England for more than 30 years, a streak that few restaurants anywhere can rival. In fact, The Sole was even named one of the top 10 seafood restaurants in America. Among other things, the menu is as fresh as the seafood. The Sole adjusts its menu daily, always offering the freshest fish available, no matter what time of year. The emphasis is on locally sourced seafood, such as haddock, scallops, swordfish, tuna and bluefish. You’ll find classics offered everyday, such as lobster dishes and other favorites, like Tuna Steak Barcelona, Seafood Sauté, Salmon and Shrimp with Citrus Hoisin Drizzle, and Haddock with Lobster Newburg. But depending on when you dine, you’ll also find seasonal dishes. Late summer and fall, for example, brings favorites such as Nantucket scallops, Atlantic salmon, striped bass and special swordfish dishes. Of course, there are plenty of other alternatives, such as chicken and steak, too. We also offer an award-winning wine list, designed to provide the perfect complement to your meal; The Sole has received Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence” every year since 2001. Because we believe that wine is an important part of the dining experience, our philosophy is to price all bottles of wine aggressively. Restaurant Weeks ends Saturday. That's a few more nights for a three-course dinner starting at $34.26 — and if you've been meaning to get the lobster, this is the week. Weekday lunch at $17.26 runs through Friday.
