Okay, Get Baked is usually reserved for buttercream and fondant

but today deserves a little something different.

This is my son.

He’s part of the Bobcat Battalion at Ohio University, and today they completed the 9/11 Stair Challenge — 2,071 steps in honor of the first responders who climbed the World Trade Center 25 years ago today.

I’m incredibly proud of my son and the entire battalion for choosing to spend part of today remembering them in a way that required a little sweat, a lot of heart, and probably some very sore legs afterward.

So yes… this page is mostly cake.

But behind Get Baked is also a very proud mom.
And today, the cake content can wait.

People always ask, “How long does it take you to make a cake?” - its my #1 asked question.

The baking? Please. That’s the easy part. 😂
I can throw some ingredients together, grease a pan, toss it in the oven and go watch TV while it does its thing. I barely even count that as work.- infact- I don't include this part in the pricing as odd as that sounds. Ingredients yes- but not labor. I've perfected recipes and have been baking them way to long. This part is easy.

It’s everything AFTER that.

Some fondant toppers are made WEEKS in advance so they have enough time to dry and harden properly. And depending on what I’m sculpting, one topper alone can take 4–10 hours to make.

Then comes the crumb coat.
The final icing.
The stacking.
The smoothing.
The sculpting.
The painting.
The decorating.
The tiny detail I decided absolutely had to exist even though no sane person would notice if it didn’t. 😅

An intricate cake can easily have 15–20 hours of decorating time in it before it ever leaves my kitchen.

So when you see a custom cake, you’re not really paying for flour, sugar and eggs.

You’re paying for the hours of me hunched over a tiny piece of fondant at midnight wondering why I chose a hobby that requires this much patience. 😂

And somehow… I still love it.

We celebrate pooping on the potty!!

My niece officially hit a very big milestone, so obviously she needed a full blown mermaid sitting on a potty cake to commemorate the occasion.

Words every proud family loves on a cake "I pooped"

She even helped make it!! She was deeply offended when I told her we had to wait until tomorrow at her "potty party" to eat it.

There’s an awkward little phase where you’re staring at a head on the counter, a toothpick sticking out of a body, and questioning every decision that led you here.

Even a mermaid sitting on a potty chair had to go through a questionable phase.

But then the details start happening.

Hand-shaped fondant.
Tiny scales.
Shells.
Hair.
A little sculpting, a little airbrushing, and an unreasonable amount of patience.

Let's hope this starts taking shape soon!

Ordering a cake from me is a little less “pick one from the book” and a little more “tell me your vision and let me get weird and crazy with it.”

Here’s how it works:

You give me the theme, vibe, colors, occasion… whatever you’ve got. Send me inspiration pictures all day long — just know I won’t recreate someone else’s cake exactly. We’re using them for inspiration, not a copy-and-paste situation. I want to be creative!!

Then I’ll send you my Get Baked Cake Guide with flavor, filling + design options.

And because apparently I have opinions 😂(and maybe some control issues?) , you’ll also get my “If it were my cake…” recommendations — what flavors, fillings and design details I think would absolutely kill it and why. You can take every recommendation, change every recommendation, or tell me I’m insane. It’s still your cake.

Once we have a direction, I’ll create an AI mockup so you can actually see the vision before I start.

Will the finished cake be an exact replica of the mockup? Nope. Cakes are handmade, buttercream has a personality, and I reserve the right to make something even cooler while I’m working. 😏

Same concept. Same vibe. Same overall design.
But completely custom to you.

First October cake spot =BOOKED

Which means I have ONE custom cake spot left for October.

And because apparently, I enjoy creating more work for myself... I'm thinking about doing a VERY LIMITED Halloween treat box drop....

Maybe 10 boxes total- Enough treats for 4-6 people.

More details coming if I decide to behave irresponsible ;)

Food allergies shouldn’t mean a kid gets stuck watching everyone else eat cake. 🖤🎂

Sugar-free. Egg-free. Gluten-free. Nut-free recipes. Whatever we’re working around — tell me.

I’ll figure it out and make that kid a cake they’re actually excited to eat. 🥹

Just let me know the allergy when ordering so we can talk ingredients and cross-contact concerns.

As a girlie with a lot of food allergies and intolerance, this will always be a priority for me. If you've been to my Christmas parties... you know, there is always something for every kiddo.

Prices will not be raised for allergies.

So let's talk pricing.

Get Baked is officially taking custom orders again, and this time things are different.

I'm not trying to be the cheapest cake in town.

I'm making custom cakes with hand crafted details, sculpted elements, sugar work, fondant, ridiculous themes, weird ideas, pretty ideas, dark ideas, elegant ideas... whatever we dream up together!

Basically, you're not just paying for a cake.

You're paying for hours of design (that I love to do) , the baking, the filling, the stacking, sculpting, decorating, hand made details, and the occasional wonder of why the hell I decided edible art was a good hobby.

If you need pictures of my work. I have plenty. I know exactly what I'm capable of and won't take a project on that I'm not confident about. I have been told I have delusion confidence- so your decision to commit to me is on you.

Custom cakes start at $150
Two tier cakes start at $275
Sculpted / character cakes start at $300
Wedding cakes start at $500

Those are starting prices, final prices will depend on size and artwork.

I'm only taking 2 custom cake orders per month. I'm doing this intentionally so I can actually get back to having fun with this again and give each cake the time and energy it deserves.

HALLOWEEN ORDERS ARE OPEN

September is when Get Baked officially starts taking orders again, which means it's also time to start thinking about Halloween parties, Spooky birthdays, horror nights, and all the gloriously unhinged reasons to eat cake.

I don't want cute little pumpkins and smiling ghosts... unless you can give me a really good artistic reason why it would be cool... i'm always open for suggestions.

But what I really want is a bloody drip cake, creepy details, horror inspired- maybe even dark humor- something people will actually remember?

Yeah- that's probably more my speed. I did just get home from the Murder Museum in New Orleans.

I'll be taking a limited number of custom orders. Want me to make your cake? Send me something cool - sooner rather than later. Once I commit - That spot is filled - don't be offended if I pass, it's not you - it's me.
