The Pickett House Restaurant staff would like to thank everyone involved in the first ever Pickett House Thanksgiving for Tyler County residents. The event was a great succsess. The origional goal was to feed 150 people and we surpassed our goal by feeding 171 people. This was all made possible because other people wanted to give back to our community. Tyler county is truly blessed with good people. I would like to thank the Coleman Family Mortuary for donating fifteen 20 to 25 lb turkeys and doing so without any hesitation. They just asked how many and when do you need them. To the Coleman family thank y'all for your generosity. We look forward to working with y'all on next years event. I would like to also thank Ben E. Kieth for donating our produce. Thank you for giving back to Tyler County citizens. The staff would also like to give thanks to The Tyler County Heritage society for allowing the staff to use the Pickett House restaurant to bring this event to life! Most importantly, I would like to thank my staff for helping me put a dream into place. The staff put money aside for a wole year to cover all the cost that was left over after donations. They also volunteered their Thanksgiving to cook and serve the meals. The meal prep alone was time consuming. Meal prep began at 2 AM on Thanksgiving day and most of the staff stayed until 3:30 PM. We prepared turkey, ham, cornbread dressing, chicken and dumplings, green bean casserole, corn casserole, squash casserole, scalloped potatoes with bacon, rolls, cranberry sauce, and banana pudding. We served from 11-2 and had lines out the door. They then began the cleaning process of the kitchen and dishes. A big shout out to Ladonda Lee, Vivian Lee, Zack Martin, Ava and Chaiya Baldovinos, and Troy Miles Calvert for all of your hard work and for your willingness to help me make this happen for our community. You guys rock! I could not ask for a better staff. Thank y'all from the bottom of my heart and I am so thankful to have all of you as my work family. The work staff would also like to thank the President of the board, Mike Cabaniss for spending his Thanksgiving knee deep in dishes all day. We appreciate all you do for the Pickett House.
