I'm home!

I'm still at Rehab in Hershey. Working hard everyday to build up strength. I still have minimal feeling from the waist down so I'm learning to stand and walk with what I do feel. I am able to walk some with the Walker but can't be left alone doing so because my knees buckle and I tire quickly. I have done some steps but again being held onto. I wear what is called a gate belt. A safety belt for the person to hold onto me with. My pain is managed and my appetite is good. The at tentative discharge date is Monday unless they I'm still progressing with therapy here. Brian still needs to make it safe for me at home which he is working on. I will be getting radiation in my T5 area to hopefully stop the cancer spread in my spine. Oncology options will be discussed after I'm home.

I want you all to know I have a wonderful friend praying about taking the teahouse over while I can help with the transition. She has a passion for baking and cooking and she's wonderful with people. My situation is uncertain and if God's plan is for me to be able to continue with the tearoom then she will make a perfect partner. Please pray God's will be done. She knows the community has enjoyed me being there and would love to help keep me open.

HEALTH UPDATE:
Not sure where I left everyone off with all the happenings that started last week. Cancer spread to my torso area and cancer weakens the bone. I had a fracture in my T5 that caused compression on my spine and has left me numb, tingling, pain and unable to move. I need assistance for everything. I had emergency surgery on my spine. They removed what cancer they could and now I have hardware in my back. Not sure how much or what but will eventually get those answers. My inscicion is about 15" long. Doctors say I'm improving. Pain management has been an up and down roller coaster ride. While my back heals I can't do chemo. Prayers the cancer doesn't spread rapidly during this time. Could be 3-6 weeks recovery. There is a possibility of radiation in my T spine area depending on where past radiation has been done which I believe was all in L1-L4 area. I had 2 inscicion drains now I'm down to one. I'm off IV hook ups which is important to get meds to all pills so I can move to rehab. I'm still getting 1 med through port. This set back puts the tea house on hold again. November reservations made are up in the air for canceling. I have friends who want to try and help get me open. We just need to figure out how we can do this with me just managing from home. I have such wonderful friends wo want to help keep my dream alive so we'll see what we can do. Everything depends on my healing. Right now it's a plan of keeping me comfortable and giving me quality of life. We don't know God's plan we have to trust in him. I appreciate all your support. The Franklin House Tavern when they offer their high tea venue. I don't know these next 2 personally but have been to their rooms and enjoyed the experience. UPDATE:

I'm going to do my best here to give you my health update. I had to be admitted into Hershey Hospital for emergency surgery on my back. Turns out cancer on my thoracic area around T5 caused a fracture that compression on my spine causing numbness in my butt, legs, feet and made it so I couldn't p*e. Surgery went well. I'm in a lot of pain. Can't walk or move yet but the doctors and nurses are checking on me frequently. I'm on a pain drip and 15 minute pain med button. Will be doing therapy and going to in patient therapy. Not sure of time frame. The goal is to get me back to as much quality of life possible. I'm looking at possibly more radiation treatments but here at Hershey. Still need to meet up with doctors and discuss plan.
