Owning Tapped has taught me that a small business is about so much more than selling a product—it’s about building relationships, creating a place where people feel welcome, and investing in the community we all call home.

Every dollar spent at a locally owned business supports local families, local employees, local charities, youth sports, schools, and other small businesses. Those dollars don’t just leave with a purchase—they continue to circulate through the community, helping all of us grow together.

Over the last 11 years, your support has allowed Tapped to give back in ways I never imagined. We’ve hosted fundraisers, celebrated milestones, welcomed nonprofits, supported local organizations, and watched complete strangers become lifelong friends. That’s what community looks like, and my family and I will never take that for granted.

Like many of you, I’ve been following the conversations about the changes at Local Oak. I understand why there are strong emotions. When a business that has been built by local families and familiar faces changes ownership, it’s only natural for people to feel a sense of loss.

My heart especially goes out to the employees and leaders who poured years of their lives into building something that meant so much to this community. Change isn’t easy, and I know that for some, this new chapter meant making the difficult decision to step away. Their contributions helped create the place so many of us came to love, and that deserves to be recognized and appreciated.

I also believe it’s fair to recognize that new ownership can bring resources, opportunities, and ideas that may benefit the business and even other communities. Time will tell what this next chapter holds, and I genuinely hope it succeeds.

For me, this isn’t about criticizing anyone or telling people where they should spend their money. It’s about remembering what makes locally owned businesses special. Decisions made by local owners often come from living in the same neighborhoods, raising families here, supporting local causes, and understanding the unique character of a small town.

At the same time, the people who continue to work at Local Oak are still our neighbors. They didn’t make the ownership decisions, and they deserve our encouragement, kindness, and support as they navigate this transition.

Community is bigger than any one business. My hope is that we continue supporting the people who have invested their hearts into Greenville—past, present, and future.

Thank you for allowing my family to be part of this incredible community. We don’t take it for granted. ❤️
