Dear Peace Café Supporter,
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying your summer.
It is with deep regret – and only after weeks of earnest prayer, deep soul searching, and consultation with trusted advisors – that I inform you I have decided to back away from my long-held dream of developing Peace Café. I continue to believe in the concept of offering accessible healthy food to all people regardless of their ability to pay and providing opportunities for genuine community interaction for people regardless of background or social status. Such an affirming environment would be a real blessing to Winston-Salem and the greater Forsyth County area.
As most of you know, I have struggled with several personal issues during the past year. The stresses of major health obstacles and personal issues, on top of the anticipated pressures and unanticipated business setbacks associated with starting a non-profit organization, have sapped my physical energy and emotional stamina. I feel a real need to step back and focus on my own physical and mental health for a while.
Having said all that, Peace Café exists as an incorporated 501(c)3 entity with the beginnings of a budget and business plan. It would be a much-needed gift to our community if one of you would shepherd the project from this point. I can be available to assist anyone who feels led to carry out this vision and there are former board members who are willing to assist. Please give this potential opportunity your prayerful consideration.
Thank you so very much for your past support. I have valued your input and appreciated your enthusiasm for Peace Café.
With gratitude,
Patti Parker
