Since Skipper’s is closed on Wednesdays, I thought I would answer another one of our most frequently asked questions:
Do you deliver?
We do not participate with any third-party delivery services—and there are several reasons why.
First and foremost, I do not want anyone handling our food other than our trained staff or the customer it was prepared for. While we were building Skipper’s last winter, I often used third-party delivery services. Most experiences were great, but unfortunately, some were not. Food occasionally arrived cold, damaged or with items missing. On one occasion, a driver even arrived with blood on their hands and face while handing me my order.
Many of these services also charge delivery fees of $7 or more, in addition to other fees and markups. That is not how we want our food represented, and we do not believe our customers should have to absorb those extra costs to enjoy a meal from Skipper’s.
If you happen to see Skipper’s listed on any third-party delivery platform, please understand that we did not sign up for or authorize that listing. We will not accept or acknowledge orders placed through those services.
Now for the good news!
As we settle into our regular routine, we are beginning to explore our own in-house delivery service. Over the past few days, we have visited several local businesses and offered them the opportunity to establish a designated day for free lunch delivery.
If I overlooked your business and you are interested, please call me at Skipper’s at 860-238-4057 so we can arrange a delivery day.
Once we establish a comfortable routine with daytime business deliveries, we will begin exploring the possibility of offering our own in-house home delivery service during additional hours.
As always, thank you for supporting Skipper’s and allowing us to do things the right way!
