🌿 LET’S TALK OUTDOOR WEDDINGS!
5 Simple Tips for Planning a Beautiful Outdoor Wedding
One of the best things about an outdoor wedding is the freedom to make it your own. Whether you’re planning something small and simple or a big celebration with a beautiful tent, there are so many ways to put your own personal touch on the day.
I thought I’d start sharing a few tips and ideas for couples planning outdoor weddings. Some are simple little things, but they can make a big difference!
🌿 1. Let the scenery do some of the decorating!
One of the biggest perks of getting married outdoors is having a beautiful natural backdrop. Rolling hills, open fields, trees, and sunsets can do a lot of the work for you. You don’t necessarily need elaborate decorations everywhere. Sometimes simple flowers, pretty table settings, and a few strings of lights are all it takes.
☀️ 2. Take advantage of that golden-hour sunshine.
If you’ve ever seen wedding photos taken just before sunset, you know how beautiful that lighting can be! That soft, warm glow is perfect for pictures. Check what time the sun sets on your wedding date and try to leave 15–30 minutes in your schedule for photos during that time.
✨ 3. Lighting can completely change the atmosphere.
One of my favorite things about outdoor receptions is how beautiful they become once the sun goes down. String lights, lanterns, candles in protected holders, and even a few uplights can turn a simple outdoor space into something pretty spectacular. And you don’t have to spend a fortune to pull it off!
🌸 4. Make your wedding comfortable and welcoming.
Little touches go a long way. A basket of blankets for a cool fall evening, handheld fans for a summer ceremony, or a drink station where guests can help themselves are all simple ideas that people appreciate. You don’t have to overthink it!
💍 5. Don’t feel like you have to follow every wedding tradition.
This might be my favorite tip of all. Want food trucks instead of a formal plated dinner? Go for it! Prefer picnic-style seating, long farmhouse tables, or a casual barbecue? Those can all make for a wonderful celebration.
The nice thing about an outdoor wedding is that you have room to be creative and make the day feel like you.
