Winning Best Chef is a little awkward considering I spend more time unclogging drains and fixing equipment than cooking these days. I’m basically the head maintenance guy with a chef coat.
Wimberley has welcomed a lot of great new restaurants over the last few years, and I love seeing our town grow. But if there’s one thing I know, it’s that nobody outworks the teams at Marco’s Italian and Wimberley Cafe, and the most “touristy” joints on the Square will always be committed to quality over quantity. People over profits.
These teams don’t just make great food- they create genuine hospitality. Every plate, every smile, every guest matters. It’s our culture. That’s what sets us apart.
This award doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to the incredible people who show up every day determined to do it just a little better than everyone else. If I had one wish, it would be to get everyone in one place at one time for a pic!
