Imaginary Cakes is now under new ownership. We will still have the same great cakes you have come to love, at all our current locations, along with our premium wedding cakes. Please bear with us during this transitional period as we will not be taking on as many custom orders during this process. Thank you all for your continued support!

From Courtney- thank you all so much for trusting me to be your “cake lady” for 20 years here in Wilmington. I truly appreciate each one of you and the support you have given us through the years. I will be teaching/supporting the new staff to ensure that quality and standards will remain. As for me, I’m gonna give these two bum elbows some time to heal and explore more artistic opportunities. 💗

Why the disguise?!

In 2021 we flew too close to the sun. We had created a larger than life version of some little girls famous Christmas tree dessert. This dessert became wildly popular in the Wilmington community.

In 2022 the folks demanded more and we provided. Along with a newspaper article and a small viral moment on social media, the little girl found out. She promptly sent us a cease and desist. But was it the end?…

NO WAY! The people wanted their cake and we said “let them eat cake!” Out of this moment was born the legally distinct, generic holiday, festive topiary shaped dessert cake that you all have come to love and know as the Big Disguise.
