💔 $600. GONE. JUST LIKE THAT. 💔
Six hundred dollars.
It may not seem like much to some people, but to a small, struggling nonprofit rescue like Delilah’s Hope, $600 is EVERYTHING.
Saturday, what was supposed to be another day of giving our rescue dogs a chance at finding their forever homes turned into an absolute nightmare.
Our rescue bus broke down at a red light in Lindale after leaving the adoption event.
And just like that, $600 was ripped right out of our rescue’s already stretched-thin budget just to pay the towing fees.
💔 $600 that was supposed to go toward our rescue bus loan payment.
💔 $600 that was supposed to help purchase flea and tick prevention for the dogs depending on us.
💔 $600 that we DID NOT have sitting around to spare.
GONE. EVERY SINGLE PENNY.
And the most heartbreaking part? Our bus is STILL broken down. We spent $600 just to get it towed. Not repaired. Not back on the road. Just towed.
I cannot begin to explain how defeating this feels.
We work so incredibly hard to keep this rescue operating. We stretch every dollar. We sacrifice our time, our sleep, our family time, and sometimes our own needs to make sure these dogs never have to go without.
And then something like this happens.
SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Do you know how much that money could have done for our dogs? How many necessities it could have helped provide?
Instead, it went toward something we never could have planned for.
And now I’m sitting here wondering how we’re going to make up that money. How we’re going to cover the bus payment. How we’re going to purchase the flea and tick prevention our dogs need. And how we’re going to afford whatever repairs our bus may need.
I am exhausted. I am heartbroken. And I am scared.
Not because I want to give up on this rescue. But because no matter how hard I work, how much I sacrifice, or how carefully I try to manage what little money we have, something always seems to happen that knocks us right back down.
And while I’m trying to figure all of this out, the dogs are still here.
They’re still waiting to be fed.
They’re still waiting to be cared for.
They’re still waiting for their forever families.
They don’t know that our rescue is struggling financially. They don’t know that $600 just disappeared from the money we needed to care for them. And they shouldn’t have to.
That’s the part that breaks my heart the most.
I don’t like begging. I don’t like constantly having to ask our supporters for help. But the reality is that without donations, Delilah’s Hope Rescue cannot continue doing what we do.
So today, I’m swallowing my pride and asking.
Can you please help us recover this $600? 💔
If just 60 people could spare $10, we could replace every dollar we lost Saturday.
If you can’t donate, please share this post. Please help us reach someone who can.
Because right now, we don’t need another setback. We desperately need a miracle.
We aren’t asking for luxuries. We’re asking for the ability to pay our bills, protect our dogs, and keep giving unwanted, abandoned, and forgotten animals a fighting chance.
$600 may have disappeared in a matter of hours Saturday, but the responsibility of caring for every single dog at Delilah’s Hope didn’t disappear with it.
And I refuse to let them down. 💔🐾
