Buckets of berries and a buncha tomatoes! This week’s specials have summer written all over them 🍅

Our sweet special is Beghrir (Moroccan pancakes) with macerated strawberries, honeysuckle syrup, oat crumb, and thyme browned butter.

The Chef’s Plate (and instant staff favorite!) is our first tomato sandwich of the year! Garlicky griddled John Dough sourdough with ripe local tomatoes, stracciatella, basil oil, and greens. Comes with choice of side.

A special shoutout to Colleen and John who picked soooooo many strawberries this week! 🍓🍓🍓🍓 Look for them on the menu and in the pastry case here at the Sawhorse and at our sister spot Buzzsaw Coffee in the Pajama Factory.

We’ve got some great art up on the walls here at the Sawhorse through the end of June from one of our own, local artist, Desirea Taylor!

Des has worked with us since 2024 and we are so excited to finally get to share her work with the Sawhorse community. Her pieces range from paintings to photography and collage work and are full of energy and emotion. Stop in and check out the full show, up through the end of the month!

Our local farmers markets are starting to really take off as we make our way towards summer! The June menu is brimming with fresh, local goodness and we are so excited to share it with you ☀️

Some of our new dishes for this month:

The Hot Saws Chicken Sandwich - smoked chicken, shredded and tossed in Hot Saws buffalo sauce with pickled jalapeno relish, roasted onions, bleu cheese ranch, and shrettuce served on housemade potato roll.

The Dutch Hill Salad - Whispering Acres greens with sugar snaps, new potatoes, jammy eggs, lardons, radishes, capers, bleu cheese, anchovy-garlic vinaigrette and dill.

The Bulgogi Toastie - shredded bulgogi beef, housemade kimchi slaw, cooper cheese, and gochujang special sauce on griddled John Dough sourdough.

Strawberries & Cream Bread Pudding French Toast - sourdough bread pudding griddled french toast-style and served with strawberries in syrup, fresh mint, vanilla whipped cream, and lemon crumb.

Turkish Eggs - two eggs any way over Orontes Yogurt with paprika-chili butter, fresh herbs, griddled John Dough sourdough, wilted seasonal greens, and pickled green garlic.

Curried Cauliflower Sandwich - roasted cauliflower, whipped tahini, cucumber and garbanzo bean salad, and greens on toasted John Dough sourdough.

A little housekeeping before we get in to this week’s specials: the Sawhorse and Buzzsaw will be closed on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. We are open regular hours through the weekend and next week!

Now on to the fun stuff!

The Chef’s Plate this week is charred purple sweet potatoes (from Wolf Hollow Farm) in jeow sum, served with sticky rice, a salad of shredded cabbage, mint and basil, fried onions, peanut khao khua, and lime.

We are also featuring a hazelnut babka with whipped vanilla marscarpone, St. Francis créme anglaise and a dusting of cocoa powder.

This week’s specials are not to be missed!

The Chef’s Plate is a char siu pork sandwich with local broccoli rabe, plum sauce mayo and spring onions on house-made sesame seed milk bread. It’s served with your choice of side.

For those with a (not too) sweet tooth, we have a banana milk tapioca pudding, served chilled with fresh mango compote, and toasted coconut crumb 🥥

Stop in Thursdays through Mondays, 7 - 1 on weekdays and 8 - 2 on weekends for so much brunchy goodness. See you soon!

Our favorite local farmers’ markets are brimming with fresh spring goodies and our new menu for May is here to showcase some of that fantastic local produce!

Our Chef’s Plate this week is a golden congee made with carrots and mushroom broth. It’s served with roasted Marousi Farm carrots, sautéed Ten Mile Mushrooms, soy marinated egg, herbs, scallions, and ginger oil.

Our sweet special is pancakes served with strawberry rhubarb syrup, dark chocolate crumb, and vanilla bean whipped cream 🍓

The Dutch Hill Salad - Whispering Acres greens with gochujang-sesame pork, sugar snap peas, cucumbers, scallions, bean sprouts, basil, crispy rice and a chili crisp vinaigrette.

The Waldorf Chicken Salad Sandwich - roasted Landis Farm chicken with grapes, K. Schlegel Fruit Farm apples, toasted walnuts, celery, and herb aioli, served on thick cut John Dough sourdough, with local greens and pickled red onions 🐓

…and our staff favorite for the month, The Pickle and Leek Toastie - melted leeks, dill pickles, roasted zucchini, cheddar + chive cream cheese, and Whispering Acres arugula on griddled John Dough Sourdough.

Specials this week!

First up is Beghrir, Moroccan pancakes served with Poco Farm honey, chamomile cream, and whipped brown butter.

Our Chef’s Plate is Tom Kha, a Thai coconut-based soup, with ginger, fresh chiles, sugar snap peas, and local mushrooms. Served over jasmine rice, with cabbage, cilantro, scallions, and lime.

April is here, showers and all 🌧️ but nothing puts a damper on new menu week!

The Chef’s Plate is griddled John Dough sourdough topped with avocado cream cheese, dandelion greens in hot bacon vinaigrette, lardons, pickled mustard seeds, jammy egg, spring onions and herbs and served with a side of rosemary potatoes.

The sweet special is a hot cross bun! House-made with raisins, sultanas, and candied ginger and served with carrot marmalade, and whipped salted butter. It’s way better than the version you played on the recorder back in the day 😜

Some other menu standouts this month are:

The Dutch Hill Salad: green goddess hummus with Whispering Acres greens tossed in a creamy tahini dressing, with roasted broccoli, capers, pickled red onions, feta, and toasted sunflower seeds.

The Very Funky Toastie: ham, arugula, pickled fennel, bleu cheese schmear, cheddar cheese, and shallots on John Dough sourdough.

Strawberry + Rose French Toast with roasted strawberry & rose compote, whipped lemon ricotta, and almond crumb.

The Turkey Pimento Melt with Landis Farm turkey, Hot Saws pimento spread, Whispering Acres kale tossed with bacon dressing, Tony's Delicatessen bacon, and dill pickles, on griddled John Dough sourdough.

…and Spring Shakshuka! A vernal take on classic shakshuka, with local greens, herbs, and alliums. Served with two eggs any way, fresh cilantro, castelvetrano olives, and feta cheese.

There are even more new items to explore on this month’s menu. Stop in or call for takeout Thursdays through Mondays, 7-1 weekdays and 8-2 Saturdays and Sundays.

As a note, the Sawhorse and Buzzsaw will both be closed on Sunday, April 5. We will resume normal hours on Monday the 6th at 7am!
