SHORT WEEK

But some divine teas and treats anyways. We’re super excited about the arroz con dulce that Dayana , our Penn College Pastry student summer intern, is making for you! It is a family recipe that her mother passed down to Dayana. It is a traditional holiday rice pudding to Puerto Rico and only needs one adjustment to veganize. We feel very lucky to get rice pudding in June!

Rice pudding is a world cultural phenomenon and exists in different countries around the world. My French, English grandmother made it heavy on the cinnamon with whole milk and white rice that she stewed all day. It can be found in India with dried fruits, cardamom and vermicelli, in France made with egg, in the Philippines steamed in banana leaf and in many other places with just as many variations. This variation is made with a variety of spices and lots of coconut milk. Can’t wait to try it!

In Presence

June asks nothing of us but to live in the present:
