Welcome to The Cheese Shop - Merchants Square, located between Colonial Williamsburg and William & Mary. Owned and operated by the Power family since 1971.

For 50 years The Cheese Shop has offered hundreds of cheeses, wines and specialty foods. We've also become one of Williamsburg's most popular destinations for a casual lunch or dinner. Located in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square. We invite you to enjoy sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie plates, wine by the glass inside the shop, on our patio on Duke of Gloucester or under our

heated and covered side patio. Located below The Cheese Shop is our Wine Cellar with a selection of over 4,000 bottles. Adjacent to The Cheese Shop is our fine dining restaurant: Fat Canary, awarded AAA Four Diamonds every year since opening in 2003. Recently opened in 2020 is our new more casual dining option: Downstairs at Fat Canary. The Cheese Shop, Wine Cellar, Fat Canary and Downstairs at Fat Canary are owned and operated by the Power family since 1971.
