Thank you ICT Food Rescue for all you do for Wichita!!
🍕 523 ginormous pizzas and counting!
In just over a year, ICT Food Rescue’s 316 Pizza Project has turned surplus par-cooked pizza crusts from Picasso's Pizzeria into 523 fully topped, 26-inch pizzas, providing an estimated 4,184 to 5,230 servings to six of our nonprofit partners across Wichita. ❤️
Here’s how it works: when surplus par-cooked crusts remain, ICT Food Rescue works with Picasso’s to have each one fully topped and baked into a ready-to-serve pizza. Up to six days a week, when surplus is available, our volunteers can pick up the finished pizzas and deliver them to nonprofit partners ready to put them to good use.
This pickup included three pizzas plus surplus breadsticks, all delivered by one of our volunteer food rescuers to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita!
The 316 Pizza Project, an initiative of our Upcycle Program, is one way we take food surplus that already exists and make it even more practical for the organizations we serve.
