Last school year we mentored a student, Brody, from Campus High School and his family’s goal was to buy a food truck and move to Mississippi after he graduated high school. I just had back surgery so I wasn’t sure if I could do it but I made a commitment to Brody so every Thursday from 5pm-8pm we would meet and discuss what it takes to run a business, the planning aspects, and menu creation. We came up with projects for his class and he helped me design the digital menu boards at Sharky’s and so many others things. Last week, I met up with him and got to see the new food truck his family purchased. I’m so proud of this young man and wish his family the best of luck on their journey while they get their business started, The Pit!

June 10th!!! Today is the day we bring back the Flaming Hot Cheetos Sushi burritos, but they will only be available from 5pm to 9pm for the next week so we can slowly integrate it back into our regular menu. Build your own sushi burritos, choose your protein (ahi tuna, salmon, shrimp, chicken, or steak), your sauce, mix-ins and toppings and enjoy! 😊

Summer is heating up and we have some hot deals going all Summer long! Tuesday is our Teriyaki Chicken hot plates for $10. Grilled Chicken on the char-broiler to give each piece of chicken a smoky flavor then glazed in our homemade Teriyaki sauce serve over a bed of white rice and your choice of two sides.

Starting next Wednesday June 10th, we are bringing back the Flaming Hot Cheetos Sushi Burrito and the Blue Takis Sushi Burritos for a limited time in store only. We are also working on something really special that we know will blow your mind.

Wichita has such great Asian locally owned restaurants, if you haven’t tried some of the restaurants/coffee shops you are definitely missing out on some of the best things Wichita has to offer.

This post is coming a little late but this month we celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. We also celebrated Mother’s Day and Nurse’s week and will be celebrating graduation coming up so it has been a busy month for us already. It was also an emotional week for us as well because we celebrated our first Mother’s Day without our mother and no matter how old you are it’s never an easy thing. We hope that all the mothers, nurses, teachers and upcoming graduates know how much you mean to us here at Sharky’s. During this heritage month we hope you continue to support all the local Asian owned small businesses that Wichita By E.B. listed in his post. We are unable to be a vendor at the upcoming Asian Night Market this Saturday because of other commitments but we hope you give all the vendors all the love they deserve. Thank you for your continued support and patronage!

With nearly two decades of experience as a nurse, I have consistently been privileged to work alongside exceptional nurses, nurse aides, ancillary staff, and healthcare providers. I have a deep understanding of the dedication and sacrifices that healthcare professionals make to deliver quality patient care. Throughout my career, I have worked in various roles, including floor nurse, manager, and director so I have seen it all. However, my nursing journey was nearly altered last year after a serious incident involving a large patient who fell on me at the hospital. The aftermath presented significant challenges, including days of I couldn’t even get out of bed, persistent numbness in my feet and toes, and severe back pain. Despite initial apprehensions, I underwent spinal fusion surgery in September 2025 and experienced being on the other side as a patient and although the recovery process has been life-altering, I am making progress. Thank you for everything that you guys do for our patients, family, friends and loved ones.
