Sorry in advance for the long post. This year we had to cut down or had to cancel scheduled events on the food truck, not by choice but because of physical limitations. A lot of you may know my story but last year on September 16th, 2025, I had a major life altering back surgery due to work related injury in which a 400lb patient fell on me (spinal fusion 3 vertebrae in the lower back) and sometimes it is difficult to know exactly how I’ll feel for the day. There are moments when I feel 80% and on those days I know that’s the best I will be that day, other times I can throw my back out trying to put on my shoes, coughing or have severe muscle spasms in my lower back and thighs making it hard to move.
As I get closer to the 1 year mark, I’m filled with many emotions because so much has happened over the last year but I’m thankful to be able to walk and function to almost normal levels most days. It has slowed me down considerably and it sucks to know that this is the new baseline but it beats the alternative so if you don’t see me at the restaurant as often or see the food truck out as often this is the reason why.
I also want to thank everyone that has supported Sharky’s as we enter our 2 year anniversary on September 14th. The staff have been unbelievable and I couldn’t do it without them.
