There are moments out here that make you stop and realize how unique this place really is.

Like watching a small plane land, seeing the passengers walk across the road, and finding them sitting in the beer garden a few minutes later. It happens more often than you'd think. Some people arrive by car. Some by motorcycle. Some by trail. Some by air.

SOME PEOPLE JUST FIT HERE

Dylan Weber has been playing Gyppo for at least five years now, and somewhere along the way he became part of the fabric of the place. He's a musician, a surfer, a painter, and one of those people who can strike up a conversation with just about anyone.

One of my favorite things is that after a show he'll often tell me about the people he met that night. Visitors from Denmark. Someone hiking the trail. A family celebrating something special. His shows always remind me that live music isn't just about the music. It's about the connections that happen around it.

Dylan takes the stage Saturday 6/6 at 6 PM.

MOMENTS LIKE THIS

The couple in this photo is enjoying a beer in the sunshine, but what I love is everything happening around them.

There's a dog wondering if beer comes in a bowl. Kids are running around the lawn. People are talking at nearby tables. Someone is probably setting up a co****le game. The band is getting ready. When I drove by on a busy summer evening recently and saw all of it happening at once, I felt an enormous amount of pride and gratitude. Creating a space where people can gather, relax, and enjoy each other's company has always been the goal.

KNOWING YOUR FISHERMAN

One of the advantages of living on the Lost Coast is knowing the person who caught your dinner.

A lot of the rockfish that ends up on our fish and chips plate comes from local fisherman Sam Stebnicki. Most mornings he's already been out on the water long before the rest of us have had our coffee. By the time dinner rolls around, that fish has gone from ocean to boat to kitchen and finally onto your plate. It's a pretty incredible thing when you stop and think about it.

Friday brings Tony, Peter & Trent and their unique blend of East and West musical influences. Then Saturday wraps things up with Dylan Weber, one of our longtime Gyppo favorites.

The thing I love most about weeks like this is that every night feels a little different. Some people come for the music. Some come for the competition. Some come because they're meeting friends for a beer and dinner. Whatever gets you here, we're glad you're coming.

When Ken first approached us about hosting Paint & Sip nights, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect.

This is now our third one, and every single class has filled up. The funny part is that most people walk in convinced they aren't creative. Then two hours later they're standing next to a canvas they can't stop smiling about. Ken has a gift for making people feel comfortable, keeping things light, and reminding everyone that this is supposed to be fun. Tonight we're painting the Cape Mendocino Lighthouse, one of the most recognizable landmarks on the Lost Coast.

People picture brewing as recipe development and beer tastings. Bryan would probably laugh at that. On any given day he's cleaning tanks, washing floors, moving kegs, filling cans, checking gravities, fixing equipment, and somewhere in the middle of all that, making beer. Most of the work happens long before a pint ever reaches your table. The goal is simple: keep the brewery running well enough that nobody notices all the work happening behind the scenes.

Next time you raise a glass, know there was a lot more than brewing involved.
