Hi there...so I just want to put this out there for whoever to see, maybe it will help, maybe it won’t... I dunno. Either way, here it is:
TAKE OUT ORDERS! Holy Balls! We have had 18 missed calls from 11 to 1 today. We answered as many as we could but still had that many missed...
Listen, we have 2 servers and 3 cooks on for lunch and 3 servers and 3 cooks for dinner. We also have 75 total seats that can be filled with humans. We have spent a lot of time and money making our restaraunt as large and accomodating as possible.
I understand you want to eat our food, it’s delicious and I don’t blame you. However, the number of calls and texts we get daily for take-out is 🤯! It makes it very challenging to handle the volume we already have with dine-in.
I’m not cutting off take-out orders, I’m not saying we don’t want your business, I just want you to understand a few things so that when you call and we don’t answer or we decline your order, you understand why.
1. The servers are there to wait on customers, not play receptionist. They are busy refilling drinks, taking orders, running food, bussing tables, doing dishes, making cocktails, etc. If they don’t answer, it’s becasue they are too busy.
2. We have no idea what the person on the other end of the line is about to order. It could be 1 sandwich and fries or it could be enough food to feed 15 people (yes, that is a common occurrence). Because of that, when we are busy--meaning there are already at least 8 to 10 tickets on the board-- we do not answer the phone.
3. Dine-in customers take priority. End of story.
4. If you walk in and order take-out, you essentially get in line right behind everyone in front of you. We will not make your order ahead of a dine-in customer.
5. If you do walk in and order, please go sit in the waiting area or in your car and we can call/text when the order is ready. Or better yet, grab a seat at the bar (if there is one) and have yourself a drink!
6. Any large orders (10 ppl or more) you need to call at least an hour in advance so we have time to prepare it. Also, if you order it for Noon or 6pm (our busiest times) chances are you will not get it then and have to come either sooner or later.
7. No, I can not hire more staff. I am fully staffed, that is not the issue. The volume is the issue. The timing is the issue. We don’t get to pick what time the dining room fills up--it just happens. We also can’t predict when 18 people are all going to call within 1.5 hours of each other and try to order take-out.
8. If you are simply calling with a question as to reservations, or hours or something unrelated to take-out, please send us a text and we will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible. The same number you used to call also receives text messages.
9. If you made it this far--thank you. I hope this clears some things up. We are truley grateful for all the business we receive. It is humbling that so many people want to eat our food. We are just a tiny little restraunt in a tiny part of Wheeling and we can only handle so much. 98% of you already understand and are very polite about the whole situation and we appreciate that.
10. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your support. Thank you for keeping us so busy that I had to type this...😆
Stay Melty, My Friends!
