Hey Rackers!!

What a great weekend at Racks. We were honestly a little worried about the turnout with only a little over 30 signed up on Friday and this being a non handicapped event.

We ended up with 62 in the open and 8 women! Pretty pleased with that turnout on a perfect fall weekend and everyone has lives outside of pool. Lots of people had other stuff going on.

My apologies if you didn’t get a steak. I was shopping Saturday morning and only bought $600 worth of steaks not knowing we’d have so many players. We’ll get more steaks next time!

Thanks to everyone that showed up to play and celebrate our 1 year anniversary of no weak drinks at Racks and also, Sunday was my 29 year anniversary being married to Angela, the Racks steak runner. Glad you were there too babe!

Johnny Sage was great. He came out and entertained us with some great music and the guys got great jokes too! He’ll be back doing that again!

We took our time getting home, stopped at the Prairie Moon Farm at Lewiston and got these cool hats and sweated the Chiefs win in Monmouth!

It seems like every time I make it over there I have a better time than I did than the time before. 1 year in, I’m not a stranger in my own pool hall now and I’ve gained a lot of friends that I look forward to seeing every time over.

Racks is on a great path moving forward with events booked every weekend through February and we’re all excited and improvements still to be made.

Thanks to Josh for running the tourney and Josh and Duke helping run the whole show and running the pepper grinder! Staff of course too! Can’t do it without ya. Congrats to Brady Behrman on the win.

Good morning Rackers!

This weekend marks one year into the new era of Racks on The Rocks. So we want to celebrate (surviving) that, but more importantly, we want to celebrate the launch of Racks into the next chapter with Josh and Duke taking the lead.

Honestly, that first year wasn’t easy. Racks has serious overhead and was not doing well when we bought it.
It’s future was not guaranteed by a long shot.

But now I know we have the right people in there to give it its best shot going forward. This is great news to all pool players and fans in Peoria, Central IL or anyone who’s been to Racks and loves it.

I’ve always tried to mix some entertainment along with pool so here’s what we’ve got in store for ya this weekend.

In addition to the $1000 added guaranteed 9 ball tournament, Im setting up a b**r tent outside and grilling 16 oz ribeye dinners for $20. 10 oz for $15. If you’ve been to the store lately, you know this is cost or less! This is just to show our appreciation.

Btw, I do know how to grill a steak and this will probably be up there with the best you’ve ever had. Let us know if you’re coming so we know how much outrageously expensive meat to buy.

Consider it a preview of the permanent patio in the future. 😉 We’ll also have a firepit and 10’ projector screen outside to watch some football. We’ve got some chairs but ya might bring a bag chair.

So come out and support the future at Racks and celebrate with us!

Good morning Rackers!

If you haven’t heard already, we’re making some changes in leadership.

There’s good news and bad news.

Starting with bad. Brandy is leaving and I’m sad about that. I wish she was staying and I’ll leave it at that. She said she’ll be back occasionally to help out with events and stuff. I don’t want to hear anything negative on this post about anyone involved so if ya have those kinda negative thoughts you feel like you need to share, use your page.

Good news, we’re bringing back Josh Suits as our pool promoter and overall bar promotions also.

Brief history about how this went down. When Josh heard the rumors we were buying Racks, he reached out to me. At that point it was just a rumor because up until the very last day, we didn’t have a lease agreement.

I’m an idiot. I didn’t know much about central IL pool and how passionate and involved Josh is in pool promotions. So I dissed him. My exact response was. “I don’t know how these crazy rumors get started”.

I didn’t do my research. Buying a pool hall 90 miles from where you live isn’t smart anyway, but the place is so friggin nice. I was trying to keep it on the DL because other people wanted to buy Racks also. I didn’t want to inspire them to take action.

Had I known what I know now, I for sure would have communicated with him back then.

So when we bought Racks, lots of people said get Josh Suits in there to run tournaments. Well, I tried, but he was pi**ed because I dismissed him when he inquired, so he wasn’t very willing to work with me. I deserved that.

Couple weeks ago I reached out and said, “Josh, you’re a league owner now and we host and promote your league. How about you step up and help us promote some stuff at Racks?” Without making this post any longer, it got us where we are now.

Josh and Duke are like peas and carrots so we all got together for dinner last week and decided Duke will bring his years of bar and pool promoting experience to help also. Duke had a pet dinosaur when he was a kid. He’s been around that long.

If you know anything about Peoria or central IL pool, you know this is our best option moving forward and should have happened in the first place.

Now here’s the thing about being popular, ya can’t get along or agree with everyone. There’s some fractured relationships in the Peoria pool scene. We’re not going to discuss who was right or wrong, what’s been said or done in the past.

We want to unite the Peoria pool community and make Racks greater than ever. Every player and every league is welcome and will be accommodated.

When you make changes, of course want to make changes for the better. I think we’re on a good path going forward. We’re gonna come out swinging. I’ll leave it up to Josh to tell you about the new weekly tournaments and others already on the schedule. Ian will continue to help out also. He’s done a good job building up the Friday night tourney. We’ll also get back on track with some planned improvements also.

It’s not easy keeping a pool hall open these days. Bills are outrageous. If you want to keep a great pool hall in Peoria, come out and support us. Peace out Rackers!
