Today is opening day at the Montour Falls Farmers Market and we are back! Say "hi" to Stacy, who will run our table, and pick up a bag of freshly-roasted coffee beans or some of the delicious gluten-free treats that are now also available at our shop. The market will take place every Thursday through the summer.

Although the coffee plant is native to East Africa, the Indonesian island of Java has had a long history of growing coffee to the point where its name has become synonymous for it.

We currently offer coffee organic beans sourced from Koperasi Serba Usaha, a co-op located in Kayumas and Taman Dadar that brings together about 150 small farmers.

At a medium roast, this low-acid coffee features notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, and cedar. It has a lot of body, but an above average sweetness makes for an easy-drinking black cup of coffee.

Earlier today, the plug on our machine started to melt, but luckily our in-house electrician got right on it!

You asked for it: baked goods are back. Made in house, we will have limited quantities of scones, cookies, or other treats eah day. Expect to see such flavors as blueberry-lemon, chocolate chip, raspberry, and more.

As an added bonus for those to whom it matters, the bake goods will not only be delicious, but also gluten-free. Mindi was recently diagnosed with celiac disease, which prompted her to go down the rabbit hole of finding adequate substitutes for wheat flour. With the help from a friend, who is more experienced in baking, and after some experimentation, she found that King Arthur gluten-free flour and Cup4Cup work very well. Jochen and other taste-testers, who are not necessarily gluten-free, agree. A recipe for cinnamon buns is in the works, too.
