Good morning friends and followers.
Let's be real for a few minutes.
Greg and I are always excited to share our passions, joy, and creativity with you. When we took on Newton's we had grand designs and visions to see our friends and family here enjoying our plates and us enjoying their company.
We set out on this endeavor with love and hope in our hearts.
We have worked alongside some of our very favorite people in the Cedar Valley.
We have partnered with causes that are dear to our hearts.
We have grown and learned so much since last February, and every day teaches us something new.
Unfortunately, what neither Greg nor I know is how to fix the infrastructure here at Newton's ourselves.
We've been lucky to work with some amazing technicians and vendors who do everything in their power to help keep us up and running, but even they have their limits. Whether that's through limited availability (like not being available on evenings and weekends) or not knowing the particular reasons the systems set up here were put together the way they were.
Working with multiple companies and getting different feedback and suggestions from each one has left us in a position where the best we can do is trust in the solutions they offer us. Neither one of us has experience in electric, HVAC, cooling systems, or refrigeration.
So, what we know today is the becoming-all-to-familiar disappointment of having to close again.
We employ 22 people here at Newton's, all of whom have stood by our sides as we go through the merry-go-round of navigating such large issues. We're incredibly thankful for the team that's stood by our side through this.
We rely on our guests to make it through the days. Whether it's their first time here or if they've been coming for years, they're the only reason we're here doing what we do. Poviding a space for our community to eat, drink, and connect with each other is goal number one.
We are nothing without the people that support us.
And right now we're not living up to our end of the bargain.
It's heartbreaking having to make posts like this. We don't want to let y'all down, but we have to find solutions that are within our means.
Early tomorrow morning we'll be driving to West Union to pick up a part based on the recommendation of the electricians we're working with. We have an installation of that part scheduled and hope that it's a more permanent fix. While we were waiting for that part, we were able to open for a little while this weekend thanks to the experience and expertise of this company, but today that fix fell apart.
Please understand that we are doing everything in our power to keep operations up and running, and through it all our goal is transparency with our guests and our wonderful staff. Every suggestion y'all have given us we have taken with humility, every thought and prayer we've received in to our hearts, and every time we have to take a step back, we push forward with y'all in mind.
We truly love what we do. Some days are just really hard, you know?
