Mr. Binnie Turnage went home to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon. Our hearts are heavy, but we are grateful for his life and for each of you.

We are open this morning and will be here for you all week. Caring for this community was his life's work, and we'll keep doing it in his honor. We expect to close only on Saturday for services. We will confirm arrangements and share them here with everyone soon.

Low-Carb vs. Low-Fat

In a new study, researchers randomly assigned 449 men and pre-menopausal women with excess fat to either a healthy low-carb or healthy low-fat diet. After 12 months, each group had lost about 12 lbs. However, men (but not the women) on the low-carb diet lost a little more visceral (deep belly) fat than those eating the low-fat diet. Researchers don't know if these results would apply to post-menopausal women, who often have more belly fat. The low-carb diet used in the study focused on reducing added sugars, refined grains and processed foods, and emphasized fish, poultry, nuts, non-starchy vegetables and healthy oils.
